Kielce- A Beautiful City

In the first 38 days of our mission, we have driven over 6300 miles and stayed 17 nights in hotels. In our initial tour of the mission to interview missionaries and meet the members, we have visited 11 of the 13 branches in Poland. Kielce was the first city where we actually had a few hours to walk the city and visit. Above is one of the very few divided highways in Poland. They will have a great highway like this and then is goes two lane through a small city and the traffic backs up. This is a typical overpass which are always painted in bright colors.
This was the "silver lining" over the city as we entered. The baptism started shorlty after this.

The downtown area was beautiful with the main streets only for pedestrians.

Like most cities, park your car where there is room, your garden is your balcony and on the corner is a grocery store. You only buy enough for the day, so you shop every morning.
This is Main Street on a Sunday morning, not much traffic; but the other streets were lined with people nicely dressed heading to the Catholic Church. We are amazed at the number of people who go to Church every week. Poland consists of a very Church-attending population who are set in their tradition, but wonderful people who believe in God.

These two nice men stopped Stan and started talking. He told them he was from Las Vegas and America and they started to cry. They hugged him and kissed him on the cheeks and kept saying "Dziekuje, dziekuje!" which means "Thank you, thank you!" They insisted we take a picture of them.
The bus station, with the Church in the background and the train station off to the left. Kielce is a very nice city and one we hope we can visit more and spend time walking around.

  1. Thank you so much for those wonderful impressions of this mission.

I'm going to enter the MTC in two weeks. At first I couldn't really find a lot about the Mission but then Siostra Harth (she returned half a year ago) told me about your blog through which I had the wonderful opportunity to learn about the country and the people that I'll be serving.
    Thank you so much!

I'm excited to serve the Lord and his people in Poland and to meet you and President in about 11 weeks!

    Cześć!

I love seeing the country and hearing of the church in different areas of Poland. Thank you so much for sharing it with us. It is so comforting to see that he will be in such wonderful hands while in Poland.(As well as Our Heavenly Fathers).
