One of the missionaries favorite places to eat is MANEKIN. If you have served in Poland or will be serving here--- this is the place! Great polish pancakes!
We were able to get a table, make some plans for the next day and just visit. L to R- Elders Eastman, Buckner, Krzyminski, Garrett, Tribe and Murphey. Standing were Sister and Elder Tarasevich.
Before Zone Conference started, the Bydgoszcz District was in the kitchen getting everything ready for the "Buki Break"---lunch! L to R: Elders Murphey, Krzyminski, Eastman, Buckner and Tarasevich all helping prepare for a great lunch. They managed to keep the kitchen in the Bydgoszcz chapel relatively clean and neat, and Sister Tarasevich had the day off!
The Zone participating in eating... Sisters Bailey and Ellis, with Elders Siebert, Plumb, Buckner, Krzyminski, Murphey, Tanner, Johnson and Torke. This is in the Priesthood classroom at the Bydgoszcz chapel.
Celebrating birthdays during lunch were Elder Siebert and Sister Bailey. Then realizing that a former Assistant would be departing before we had another Zone Conference....
we had birthday cookies for Elder Stohel, too! We all sang 'Sto Lot' to this group and had fun.
The Bydgoszcz Zone- Seated L to R: Sisters Ellis and Bailey with Elder Stohel on the far right. Standing: Elders Plumb, Johnson, Torke, Eastman, Murphey, Krzyminski, Siebert, Buckner and Tanner (who was just transferred to Szczecin two weeks ago). The Poznan District- Sister Ellis and Bailey, Elders Johnson, Torke (the Branch President in Poznan), Stohel (the Branch President in Szczecin) and Tanner. A strong district of wonderful missionaries.
The Bydgoszcz District- Seated- Elders Eastman and Buckner. Standing Elders Murphey and Krzyminski. Another great dedicated group of missionaries.
The Gdansk District- Elder and Sister Zatylny and Elders Plumb and Siebert. Elders Plumb and Siebert just achieved the new Standard of Excellence and will be new members of the "Dan Jones Wall of Fame" in the next monthly printed edition of the new Dobra Strona.
The Zatylnys were kind enough to bring 'foamies' for Sisters Ellis and Bailey whose beds in Poznan are 'less than desireable'! Good luck, Sisters, carrying those massive things on the train! But wait!
After getting everyone to their trains, we had about 2 hours before the Investigator/Member Fireside started that night so President Nielson and I decided to walk around town.
President Nielson finding a 'listening ear' to talk over mission matters with! This statue is of Marian Rejewski---a citizen of Bydogoszcz, a brilliant mathematician and breaker of the Enigma Code.
We walked down to the center of town and look what we found...
A white-board in action....... The Plan of Salvation diagrammed and exhibited wonderfully.
The missionaries, not wanting to waste a minute of precious missionary time, had walked downtown and were contacting the many people who were walking by.....Elder Garrett in action. Elder Eastman to the left and in the middle of the group(s) were Elders Buckner, Tribe and Murphey. Elder Krzyminski was directly the traffic into the middle.
Elder Buckner explaining the 'Plan of Salvation' to some interested people passing by. Elder Murphey is to the left and Elder Eastman behind him.
It was almost time for the fireside, so we all headed back to the chapel where....... President Nielson and I spoke to this great group of members and Investigators about Baptism and the gift of the Holy Ghost. We love the people in Bydogoszcz. There is a great spirit in Bydgoszcz. After the fireside the Assistants, President and I hopped in the car and drove back home to Warsaw.....getting there about midnight. Tomorrow, we leave for Zone Conference in Katowice! We found out the next day that the nice gentleman in the front row next to Elder Tarasevich, accepted the 5th of March as his baptismal date!
